Condolence Message on the Passing on of former PSAf staff member, Gillies Kasongo
The Board, Management and Staff members of Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf) have learnt with great sadness and a deep sense of shock of the passing on of a former PSAf staff member, Mr Gillies Chashi Kasongo who breathed his last on Wednesday 25th September 2024 at St Johns Medical Centre in Lusaka, where he was admitted for treatment.
A great facilitator, broadcaster, media trainer and an articulate speaker, Gillies joined PSAf in 2006, and served the organisation in various capacities, rising to the position of Senior Programme Officer in the Media Development and ICTs Programme, where he was responsible for activity planning and implementation. He left PSAf in 2019 after 13 years of dedicated service. He was entrusted with running a number of projects on diverse development issues. After leaving the organisation, Gillies continued to support our efforts, regularly sharing ideas with our teams, and participating in some of our stakeholder engagements. His name remains engraved in our organisation’s institutional memory.
We send our deepest condolences to Gillies’ family, the media fraternity in Zambia, across Southern Africa and beyond, and many others who had the privilege of interacting with him.
Mourners are gathered in Nyumba Yanga, Lusaka. We shall share more details as and when we receive them from the family.
We pray for his family, particularly his wife and three children, as well as friends and colleagues to find comfort and strength during this difficult moment.
May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
Vusumuzi Sifile, Executive Director
